“Local to Global” Dinner - March 14, 2019
A Taste of Slovakia
The presentation and light dinner will be prepared and presented by Kamila Kollarova Burgess, a native of Slovakia who came to America to study in 2001 and was married following graduation.
Kamilia was raised on a farm and was taught cooking and baking by her grandmother. According to Kamila, “I always strive to bring the traditional home-tasting meal to the table. The recipes that bring sweet aromas to home and love to the heart are important to be shared with others.” Now as the busy mother of two little boys, cooking traditional recipes is even more gratifying.
The menu Kamilia has developed for our dinner includes an appetizer known as Slane Tycinky (salty crackers) with dill dip. The entrée course will feature Sulance, hand-made potato pasta with cabbage and bacon topping. Desert will be cheese and raspberry Kolacky. Crown Point will provide wine to accompany the dinner. During dessert she will speak briefly on her country, culture, family life and traditions.
The third dinner will feature foods from Nepal on April 11, 2019. Crown Point is located at 3220 Ira Rd., Akron, OH 44333. The price is $45/per person. Seating is limited, so make your reservation early. Reservations can be made by calling 330-668-8992, Ext. 106 with your credit card, or by sending a check to Crown Point Ecology Center, P.O. Box 484, Bath, OH 44210.
