A Fourth Season at Crown Point: Our New Growing Dome Breaks Ground
Taste of Earth didn’t just fund a greenhouse. It funded a fourth season.
Taste of Earth is Crown Point’s annual harvest dinner and fundraiser, a late-summer evening on the farm where neighbors, supporters, and friends gather over a meal made from the food we grow. It’s one of the biggest ways our community comes together to support our work, and this year it helped make something new possible.
We’ve broken ground on our Fourth Season growing dome, a 42-foot Growing Spaces geodesic greenhouse built to run twelve months a year. Installation is targeted for October, with the full project on track to be complete before the end of the year.
Who the Dome Will Serve
Schools: Fulfilling produce orders under our Harmonized GAP-certified school contract, even in the dead of winter.
Summit Fresh Mobile Market: Keeping fresh produce moving through the community in the months we used to go quiet.
Stewart’s Caring Place: Allowing us to continue our donations of fresh produce straight through the winter.
Our CSA and farm stand: Extending the growing season so members and neighbors don’t have to wait until May.
Winter education programming: A warm, growing classroom when the fields are frozen.
Revere Special Education Workforce Development: A sheltered space that lets this program extend its experience at Crown Point well into the winter season.
A Community Built This
This project has been more than a year in the making. It started at Taste of Earth 2025, when the first funds went toward a year-round greenhouse. It gained real traction when Mary Anne Krejci put her support behind it and got to work rallying the community around it. Her push carried donations through 2026 roughly halfway to the goal, and this August, Taste of Earth 2026 closed the rest of the gap.
Multiple groups, giving over more than a year, and one person committed enough to move the needle are the reason this building exists. Thank you.
What’s Next
There’s still work ahead. Building out the raised beds, bringing in soil, and getting the interior ready to grow all remain. Once everything is up and running, we’ll host a public ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate together. More to come.
