Summer Farm & Science Camp: Nature Discovery Quest

Campers entering grades 3-8 will embark on an unforgettable journey of exploration and discovery this summer! Campers will delve into the many ecosystems that define Crown Point’s living landscape. From the vibrant pond to lush meadows, campers will witness the diverse wonders of nature.

Guided by an expert in Environmental Science, campers will observe the biodiversity of each ecosystem, exploring the intricate web of life that thrives within.

Nature Discovery Quest: Grades 3-8
In addition to daily nature walks, trail exploration, and fun activities, campers will enjoy daily visits to our operational certified organic farm where they will be able to experience the joys of harvesting and taste-testing delicious fruits an vegetables free of pesticides and herbicides.

A continuation of all the fun and exploration from the week prior, campers will deepen their connection with the natural world and the ever changing landscape at Crown Point.

*Each week will take place at Crown Point Ecology Center located at 3220 Ira Rd. Akron, OH 44333. Camp drop off begins at 8:45 a.m. - 9 a.m., and pick up begins at 2:45 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Parents/guardians will be responsible for transportation to and from Crown Point.

Unplug and Explore the Great Outdoors!

Curated with a special partnership between Crown Point Ecology Center’s Summer Farm and Science Camp, and Shaw JCC of Akron.

Campers entering grades 4-8 to unplug and explore our115-acre property to learn about ecological education, organic gardening and living sustainably. Each week will be enriched with educational content, recreation and socialization. All camps will have a daily art component, team building exercises, field games, gardening and sustainability lessons in the Children’s Garden.

Cost: $350 per week

Hidden Habitats: Grades 4-8
Search high and low, near and far, for different types of creature homes! Campers will investigate a variety of ecosystems within the Crown Point grounds to discover the habitats of creatures hidden in plain sight! This is an exciting opportunity for campers to find where these living, breathing things survive, thrive, and provide balance to our ecosystem.
Power Pollinators: Grades 4-8
With a countless number of plant species that support a large variety of pollinators, campers will learn how insects play a vital role in our unique ecosystems. Our campers are fortunate to observe endangered species such as the Monarch Butterfly in their natural habitat right here in Ohio! Campers will learn how to create, conserve, and protect our vital pollinator habitats.
Creature Feature: Grades 4-8
Explore Crown Point’s vast landscape for all types of wildlife. Campers will dig, catch, and net creatures that are native to the area for observation and release. Your camper will be amazed at how many unique species are right here waiting to be discovered in their backyard! After exploring the grounds for all things that swim, crawl, and flutter, campers will learn conservation techniques to help support endangered species.
