Fall/Winter Update

I hope you are having a fantastic beginning to autumn and are making time to get outside and reconnect with nature during this time of transition. We have had an incredible summer at Crown Point on all measures and have much to celebrate and build upon as we move forward into the rest of fall and winter. With the support from our countless donors, foundations, volunteers, and friends of Crown Point, we are set up for great things to come in the coming months heading into 2024.

Crown Point’s scenic walking trails, meadow labyrinth and meditation garden are open weekly during business hours. No restroom facilities are available during fall and winter.

There are unique challenges to operating a certified organic farm, compounded by the inherent challenges of growing vegetables in northeastern Ohio and the unpredictability of the weather due to climate change. While we have had some crop failures on the farm largely due to pests, our farmers have overcome these frustrations with a mix of technical skill, persistence and incredible hard work to have one of the best harvests at Crown Point in a number of years!

Our farmers are relentless in their pursuit to feed both our community supported agriculture (CSA) shareholders and feed those in need through our produce donation program to the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank and other food pantries in the area.

Of course, we have had some great successes off the farm as well this summer. In August we had an amazing 25th annual Taste of Earth fundraiser which was as close to a perfect summer evening as we could have hoped for with such tremendous generosity from all of our friends and supporters. Take a moment to scroll through the photos highlighting Crown Point’s signature summer fundraiser.

In addition to Taste of Earth, our century barn has been bustling with activity this summer and fall, hosting weddings seemingly every weekend so that couples can share the picturesque setting with their friends and families on their special day. Also this summer we hosted a number of free programs and hikes to showcase the wonders of the various ecosystems here at Crown Point which were so much fun for all that attended.

This fall and winter we will continue a robust programming schedule with workshops and crafting programs to further increase our offerings so that there will be an event for everyone!

Prime Vine Wine Tasting and Dinner at Crown Point

Reservations limited!

All in all, the work being done to feed those in need, preserve and protect the variety of ecosystems found on the property, and foster the next generation of environmental stewards couldn’t be done without such a tremendous team. I am so grateful for our team of staff and volunteers, our vast network of supporters, and all those that engage with us in so many different ways. I hope you have a wonderful autumn, and hope to see you at one of our many upcoming programs, or our Prime Vine Wine Tasting Dinner on November 3rd!

Thank you for your support and all you do for Crown Point.
